8-19-23 hidden rocks!!

After we left our last Anchorage, we decided to go to bad river. We wanted to go to a place called Devils rapids. Turning into bad river there was a hidden rock that we hit. It made a horrible sound and almost brought us to a halt. Once we got to a spot we could anchor inside the river I got the snuba system out and went and took a look. Just as I suspected, the props were banged up really bad.

that night we had reservations in Killarney We got into Killarney without a problem. However, I could not get the engines over 1400 RPMs, If I did the boat shook pretty bad. We had two nice days in Killarney. I made a call and found out that in the little current Boyle marina could pull us out and change the props. We left Killarney early in the morning. The weather was horrible. We had 25 knot winds with higher gusts. Fortunately they were quartering our bow and we got through them without a problem.

We are fortunate to have an extra set of props on the boat. They pulled us out, change the props, and we got to the wall and tied up for the night. Went to a cruiser convention for Loopers and others from 3 to 5 o’clock. Had dinner and then listen to a free band in town. It ended up being a really nice night. Mavis was on affected by this whole thing.

  2. Ouch, been there, done that……thanfull it didn’t damage the hull or shaft….still not what a boater wants to happen. Dam rocks and flotsam!.. Be cateful and habe fun continuing on your journey …. Love you… Unk Bill

  3. I’m curious, Lucky… when something like that happens to a prop, can it be bent and straightened out, or does that prop become scrap metal? Glad you had another set of props to rely on… be careful out there!
