4-15-23 The Preparations Continue!

The boat has been out of the water since October of last year. We have taken advantage of the down time to get some things done!

We added StarLink which should provide us a permanent WiFi source at anchor or slow speeds. This will be invaluable for us to keep up with the Grandkids via FaceTime. We are also hoping to be able to use WiFi calling while in Canada and the Bahamas! The StarLink itself is a breeze to install. However, running the wires in a boat takes some creativity if are concerned about what it looks like —-I do so, I pulled the entire ceiling down to run the wires. Oh yeah, we also installed a Cell Phone signal booster. I ran those wires at the same time! Big Job!

speaking of big jobs, it took me 13 days to strip the bright work ( for non-boating people, bright work is the wood work. I have no idea why we just don’t call wood work!). Then 12 coats of varnish and it looks great. We buffed and waxed the hull. What a difference.

In order for us to sleep in comfort, we had Portland Mattress Makers build us a custom mattress. Looks awesome.

New TV installed and configured to StarLink. Not that we will be watching a lot of TV, but we are going to have bad weather days and will need to stay put.

New rod holder’s installed, not sure I like them there, but we will see.

Stay tuned for more preparations. We only have about 6 weeks before we push off.
