6-3-23 Special day

Ahoy Mates

We made it to Point Judith to droop an anchor. A bit tough but after 4 attempts to anchor she finally caught. We put on the anchor alarm and slept pretty good. Point Judith is where my father was stationed in the Coast Guard. It meant a lot to me to be able to go.

Along the way we passed some big boats, a lot of fishing boats, water taxis, and lighthouses. We traveled thru Watchhill Passage in Avondale Conn. Cruised along the coast and around some islands and more lighthouses.

After doing 101 miles 1 day, 70 miles the next, we decided to only do 38 miles to the next destination. We arrived to Crocker’s Boatyard on a dock slip $3.75ft. The boat is 42ft long. Great place, they came out to help us dock and chit chat.

Crocker’s Boat Yard is in New London conn.

We decided to go see the town. Had wings at Blue Duck Restaurant and at Hot Rod Restaurant as well. Finished the night with dinner at the Jasmine Thai Restaurant. Where we meant Alma (one of the locals).

Mavis went for a walk and off to bed.

Waking up the next morning 6/2 it was windy. Like really windy…..so it was a “No go” day. The winds reached 27 knots. Figured it was mother Nature’s way of telling us to slow down and go see the sights. We cleaned the boat, walked 5 miles, did light shopping. Went to Fort Trumble. Really cool to see the history along the way.

Jeff rewired the eternal voltage regulator. Mavis went for a walk. Laundry day. I didn’t loose any socks in the dryer so that was a bonus.

Hoping tomorrow we will move along to another cool place on our journey.

Stay tuned Chicklette
