9-13-23 lots of stuff to report!

We spent a total of three days at Mackinac Island and very much enjoyed the place. We rented bikes and rolled around the entire island. Forgot how much we liked riding bikes. We also went to the little town several times. We got some great fudge, the island is known for the fudge- it was great. Lucky made a knife out of a railroad spike at the blacksmith shop. We ate a great meal at the pink pony, which is a famous place. We hiked up to a lookout with a round circle that overlooks the water. Generally very much enjoyed the stop.
when we left a Mackinaw Island, we’re headed to Petoskey Michigan. We know the seas were going to be a little high, but our boat is more than capable of handling some seas. However, our boat was not handling, losing an engine in the middle of it. We lost the interface to the port engine in 6 foot seas. It was an interesting ride getting into Petosky. However , we made it without any real problems.
We made several calls, trying to get the interface that we lost on the port motor. However, we had very little luck doing it. We were told that the pot work part was obsolete and that it was no longer available. In my mind I’m thinking that you can’t throw away a $30,000 motor for a small electronics part. However, I was having no success! we needed to get to traverse, City because Chantel, Marissa and Kinsley were coming for a visit. We made the 35 mile trip with one engine because we still couldn’t find a part We needed. We made it OK it was just a little nerve-racking! we were not having any luck finding the part for quite a while. Then, I made contact with Yanmar and we got hooked up with Mastery Engines in Florida. I Talk to this awesome lady there named Suzi and she got us the part. We had it next day air and it worked like a charm. The other thing that happened during those big waves our dinghy came loose on and filled up with water. The weight was so much it bent the Davits (arms that hold the dinghy on the back of the boat). The davits still works -It’s just a little tweaked. I called custom!

we stayed in Traverse City had a nice visit with the girls and really like Traverse City. We like good food and there was an abundance of it there. The other thing I forgot to mention is we bought the bikes while we’re in Petoskey. We had a great chance to use them while we were in Traverse City. Several trips to Home Depot in West Marine really broken them in. As I’m writing this, we’re out on our way traveling to Leland with both engines!. Leland is It known as the Fishtown. Stay tuned for more information on that.
