We arrived back in the US in Detour, Michigan. It’s a nice little town quaint and we had a nice day. We then headed over to Cheboygan for a meeting with a Marine mechanic. We had a clunk going in the port transmission. Come to find out, there was the wrong bolt put in and it loosened up on the transmission. He fix that up and all was good. We are running very good for the time being.
After Cheboygan, we moved up to Mackinac city, which was a really cool little town. Very touristy, much more so than the other places we had stayed. However, we liked it very much. We had a couple of adventures in Mackinaw city. The first was touring the cutter Mackinac. She was an icebreaker for many years on Lake, Michigan, and lake Huron. They retired her because it took too many people to make it work and they couldn’t get parts for it anymore. The new Mackinac cutter is in Cheboygan , which we saw her when we were there, but did not tour. The other excitement we had was Luckys scooter fell off the dock by the boat and was 12 feet underwater. You can see the picture it doesn’t look at like it’s that deep, but the water was so clear it made it look very close. Lucky had to go swimming to tie a rope onto it to get it back. After opening it up, draining the water and letting it dry for 24 hours, it still worked. We think it’s a Timex takes a licking and keeps on ticking. lol
Then we moved over to Saint Ignace for one night, this is another cool little quaint town with a farmers market, and a couple of decent little restaurants.
Today we then ended up in Mackinac Island. It’s a cool place. No powered vehicles at all allowed on the island- Except for a pedal assist bikes. We rented bikes and rode around the entire island. Saw a bunch of horses and carriages. And tons of people on bikes. Today’s our first day we’re going to grill out tonight. We had a mixup on our reservations , we planned on spending three days, but we’ll see if we can now. Enjoy the photos and stay tuned for more
