So we left Orillia and headed towards the big chute. The chute is a railroad track that lifts your boat up in brings it over the road and puts it on the other side. See the pictures, it’s really an ingenious system.
we arrived early enough in the day at the Big Chute Marina to see boats getting lifted through. All was good, we made dinner on the grill and then hell broke loose. A storm came through with 60-70 mph winds and driving rain. The wind ripped our dock off the main anchor dock. 30 plus boats where free floating on this Loose dock. We all managed to get off the dock without damage. We moved over to a concrete dock for the night. In the morning we did the railroad lock. It was really cool. Works off the same principle as some of my old lift products.
we went through the Severn lock which will be our last lock until Chicago. Thanks goodness! I need to count, but I believe we have done over 120 locks. As i write this we are on a dock on Georgian bay. Beautiful place. Let’s see what tomorrow brings!!
