7-31-23 Anchors and Walls.

Since we left Peterborough, we have been staying on walls and at anchor. It’s nice it’s quiet plus it saves a ton of money by not paying for marinas.

we had the opportunity to go through the largest Liftlock in the world in Peterborough- see some of the pictures it’s really cool. As an elevator guy and used to dealing with Jacks or pistons. This was really interesting. The size of a piston is absolutely enormous. It’s a feat of engineering. after a couple nights at anchor, we ended up spending the night in Kirkland. Kirkland is another Liftlock it’s not as tall as Peterborough, but cool nonetheless. Kirkland was under construction so it was being operated by 150 hp motor. It took 58 minutes to go up in 30 minutes to go down. So if your timing was off, it could take you up to 2 1/2 hours to get through this lock. Timing was good it took us about an hour.

we also had the opportunity to see the Little River Band at a free concert in Peterborough.
